Costellariidae sometimes called the “ribbed miters” is a taxonomic family of minute to medium-sized predatory sea snails. This family was previously sometimes known as Vexillidae. The shell of this family has an axial sculpture more pronounced than mitridae. A more reliable feature is the presence of spiral lirae on the internal face of the lip opposite the columella. These lirae are formed by raised lines or pustulose beads. No operculum and thin periostracum.
