The slate-grey or milky blue dorum with indistinct brown spots surrounded first by a light zone and then a ring of darker brown, distinguishes boivinii from all other cypraeids. This species is found in shallow active water on a hard reef under rock and coral slabs. It is found in Japan the Philippines and Indonesia.
