This species was named as C. Cathcartiae or even a form of t he C. aulica but the revision happened as the holotype of the cathcartiae seems to be a small brown rare cymbiola found in Mapun Island. It differs from the laminusa by being smaller, brownish vs the olive green laminusa and has 3 bands of dark spots.
