Conus dusaveli (Du Savel's cone)

A presumed piscivore so I would presume also to be highly venomous. A extraordinarily beautiful and glossy species. Highly desirable and one of the 50 rare shells from the famous book by Peter Dance. The pattern is variable but always beautiful and you can tell immediately from the elegant shape that it is a dusaveli. Not so rare as when the first holotype was discovered in the stomach of a deep water fish off Mauritius but splendid specimens of even common shells are hard to come by.
