Murex ternispina (Black spined murex)

Found from India till the Philippines. Murex nigrispinosus, Reeve, 1845 is still a used synonym today. A very solid elegant species. Normally specimens from the Pacific display a white shell with black tip spines but they also come in orange or pinkish hues. The Indian or Sri Lanka specimens are sometimes very dark.
